It is definitely a lot easier to pretend that what goes on in the state and world around us is not OUR concern. Christian people are truly either "part of the problem or part of the solution." The church should encourage its members to be actively involved in moral and social issues facing our society today. Christians must understand that we "saved" people are called to be "salt" and "light" in our dark days.
Nowhere is the axiom, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good folks to do nothing," more true than in the decisions of representative government. James states in 4:17, "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is a sin."
Someone says though, "what about separation of church and state?" This separation by our American forefathers never meant that people of Biblical convictions were somehow disqualified from bringing their beliefs to bear on great public issues. The Bible is full of examples of God's people taking a Godly stand for their people and country.
