Abortion 2008-2009
The subject of abortion has been one our major concern this year for the CAC and the MS Baptist churches. I truly appreciate the tremendous response of the Mississippi BMA churches in our petition drive. So many of you have telephoned or written to me about the efforts to “Amend the Mississippi State Constitution.”
This is Initiative Measure #26 that requires the signed petitions to be validated by the local county clerk. Thank you again, BMA folks for standing up for the rights of the unborn.
President Obama signaled to the nation the his proabortion stance when he appointed Deputy Attorney General David Ogden.
Ogden’s own words give testimony to his, and President Obama’s, stance on the unborn. Back in 1987, David Ogden co-authored a brief for the American Psychological Association arguing that “ parental notification was an unconstitutional burden on a 13 or 14 year old girl seeking an abortion. There is no question that the right to secure an abortion is fundamental.” (Hartigan vs. Zbaraz, 1987)

“Abortion Statistics for Mississippi.” can be found on the internet using the search engine, Google. The numbers are startling and should cause the Christians to pray much, much more.
Listed below are a few facts from the site:
1) “In 1997, there were 42,747 MS births,
2) Same year, 20.7% were to teenagers,
3) Same year, 45.5% were to unmarried mothers,
4) In 1997, 1,344 babies were aborted at 8 weeks,
5) Nationwide, 348,340 babies were aborted at 8 weeks, and
6) In 1997, 3,563 MS babies were aborted.”
The internet address, www.abortionfacts.com Has much valuable information. The following quote is noted, “abortion has slowly crept in to the world of religion and now entire denominations embrace abortions as an appropriate choice both in the eyes of God and their church leaders. The decision to illegitimately claim God’s blessing on the act of abortion is both immoral and heretical.”
Psalms 139: 13-16 states,
“For thou has possessed my reins: thou has covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are thy
works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret; and curiously
wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my
members were written, which in continuance, were fashioned, when as yet there
was none of them.”
